Dr. Shea is a Prosthodontist in private practice in Sunset Hills. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1982, and his Masters of Science in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry from the University of Michigan in 1989. Dr. Shea is a Fellow in both the American College of Prosthodontists and the American College of Dentists Fellow. He has achieved Diplomate status from the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Shea has formerly taught at Southern Illinois School of Dental Medicine and until recently taught with the A.T. Still University Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He is active in lecturing to local study clubs and dental organizations. He also serves as Chairman of the Prosthodontic Peer Review Committee and is head of the licensing committee for Prosthodontics for the Missouri Dental Board. Dr. Shea is the former Lead Trainer for eastern Missouri for Missouri Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) courses, a role he has held since 2006. In 2012, Dr. Shea was recognized with a Presidential Citation by the Missouri Dental Association (MDA) for his dedicated commitment to new curriculum development for the EFDA program. He was also recognized with the MDA Distinguished Service Award that same year for his teaching activities related to EFDA. A participating dentist in the Dental Lifeline Network, providing free dentistry to the needy, Dr. Shea is a recipient of the Dental Lifeline Network Humanitarian Award as Missouri Volunteer of the year in 2011. He has also been active in leadership at the District level of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society, serving as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President over the years. Dr. Shea was a member of the Board of Directors of The Foundation of the St. Louis Dental Society from 1985-1987, and again from 1998-2002. He served as Chair of the Council on Scientific Sessions in 1995, 1999 and 2012. Dr. Shea is a Past President of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society. And in 2017 he was granted the highest the highest award by the Greater St. Louis Dental Society, for lifetime service to the Society, The Gold Medal Award. KarenBusiness Assistant Karen has been in the dental field for 38 years and with Dr. Shea since March 2022. She began her career as a dental assistant. Four years later she moved to front office duties. She was business assistant/office manager at a busy south St. Louis general practice for 34 years before joining Dr. Shea’s specialty practice. She is fluent in dental insurance and greatly enjoys interacting with patients. KimBusiness Assistant Kim has been a business assistant with St. Louis Prosthodontics since 2015. Before that she had extensive office experience at a variety of businesses, including running the Missouri State rodeo organization. She is fluent in scheduling and coordinating treatment with patients and other offices. LindaDental Assistant Linda started in dentistry in 1988 as a dental assistant. She obtained certificates in Expanded Functions in Dental Assisting in 2005 (Fixed Prosthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics, and Restorative Dentistry). She obtained the Missouri license in Expanded Dental Assisting in 2014. She has worked all over St. Louis during her time in dentistry, with extra emphasis and experience in prosthodontics. She has been with Dr. Shea since 2016. She is an invaluable resource in treating the complex dental issues of our patients. StacyDental Hygienist Stacy has been with Dr. Shea since 2006 after her graduation from hygiene school in 2005 (with high honors). She is valuable in educating patients about treatment and providing supportive care. She is extensively cross trained in prosthodontic procedures as well as conventional hygiene practice. Usually she meets new patients, helps work up their needed treatment, then gets to see them upon completion of treatment. Her skills are as good as any hygienist at any practice anywhere. |
